Friday Night Ex-Gay Entertainment

In the Love in Action ex-gay residentatl program, Friday night was movie night. Yeah, we got to see one movie a week in the form of a video (they didn't have a DVD—it was over 10 years ago). In the following YouTube video I reveal the secrets behind watching films in the Big House. Find out what's in, what's out, and why Biblical films were banned!

Ex-Gay Watch posted this VERY FUNNY music video that finally explains how it is that "the gays" are destroying marriage.

And I posted this before, but here is the entertaining trailer for the film, Chasing the Devil: Inside the Ex-Gay Movement. The man talking about zebras with the cat trying to steal the shot is my father.

All 3 videos are no longer available -- is this a NARTH conspiracy or something?

Ohh, I like the thought of Joseph still in there too. Even if I haven't seen any part of that film.

What a lovely little story. I am impressed by the fact that you are still sort of sane.

georgenj, I think your problem in viewing the videos was more likely due to a dodgey Internet connection. I doubt NARTH has that sort of power, although their imposing name would seem to suggest otherwise.

Alex, Love in Action often told us that a definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over all the while expecting a different result. After 17 years of insanity, I finally came to my senses and stopped the ex-gay madness.

"Flesh deprived men” That was so true.

Do you remember that there was another "client" as we were called that went through the Sunday paper and took out all the advertisements because they may have men in underwear in them?

How fun those years were, yea right. But you made it bearable, “Pumpkin”.

Your friendship was the best thing I got from our years there, thanks for all you have done for me lately!

Brilliant stuff. Loved the movies video, and the trailer looks interesting. Lots of extreme closeups though. o.o; Give these people some space!

Only kidding. It looks very interesting.

You know, I had a hunch that was the reason they'd banned those biblical epics at LIA even before I watched the video. If there's one thing you can count on seeing in a Hollywood biblical epic, it's lots of skin.

It's pretty hard to look at those old biblical flicks, and especially the ones made before the Hays Code came into being, without coming to the conclusion that they were deliberately intended to titillate heartland audiences while at the same time sneaking under their moral objections to being titillated. People could go watch portrayals of the heathen pagan idolaters engaging in all sorts of wicked sins, safe in the knowledge that they themselves weren't enjoying the sight of all that sultry human flesh so much as the lesson about the wages of sin. At least, they could plausibly tell themselves so.

Kinda like the way the tabloids nowadays titillate their readers with the antics of the rich and famous, all the while pretending to be outraged at all that licentiousness. The creators of all those Hollywood biblical epics, some of whom like DeMille, were very self righteous uptight prigs themselves, understood that to sell sex in the heartland, you had to leaven it with a pinch of sanctimony. It still works.

boredbeyondbelief (aka Joe Gee), sweetheart, even though like the Biblical Joseph, you too spent time in the slammer, I'm afraid you still suffer from delusions. But glad you got out of your hot tub :-P

Tom, not sure when the film comes out or where. Maybe on TV. Yeah, I guess my dad's cat does look like a younger Pepper without patches of missing hair.

Scott, thanks for coming by!

I know that version of the Joseph movie; I think it was a TNT production. Regardless, if whoever is playing Joseph is not BEAUTIFUL, then the casting director is playing around with the word of God. ;-)

I have never actually seen your Dad, only your impersonation of him...and two things crossed my mind...1.) It is an amazing depiction. 2.) He is (for lack of a more appropriate term) Adorable!!!

It won't succeed as a matter of fact, that's exactly what I think.
